AI disclosure
Every Answerling agent is an AI. This page says what that means for the person calling, and for the business whose phone it answers.
1. It never claims to be a person
An Answerling agent will not say it is human. If a caller asks whether they are talking to a real person, it says no, and that it is the business’s virtual assistant.
2. What it does
It answers the phone in the business’s name, tells the caller what the business does, and takes down what the caller needs, their name and the best number to reach them. It says someone from the business will get back to them, without giving a time. Afterwards the business gets a summary, usually by email, and can read and hear the call in its dashboard.
3. What it does not do
Nothing it says is medical, legal or financial advice, and it does not tell a caller whether something is safe. It is told not to promise anything the business has not given it: when it does not know, it takes a message rather than guessing. It does not place sales calls; Answerling agents answer calls, they do not make them. It is not an emergency service: if you have an emergency, hang up and dial 911.
4. It can make mistakes
An AI agent can mishear a name or a number, or misunderstand what you meant. That is why it reads your details back before you go, and why calls are recorded and summarised for the business to read. If something was taken down wrongly, the business can see it. You can call back, or ask for a person and the agent takes a message for them.
5. For businesses using Answerling
The agent speaks in your name, and you decide what it says about your business; we set it up with you and test it before it goes live.
Some places require a business to tell callers up front that they are speaking with an automated system. Tell us in your setup week and we write that into your greeting. Whether your business needs it is a question for your own adviser; when in doubt, have it added.
